Ryan Gosling Hairstyles - Cool Male Short Haircuts

Ryan Gosling hairstyle

Ryan Gosling is a Canadian actor born on November 12, 1980 in London, Ontario, Canada. He has been nominated for a wide range of awards and has won several of them despite a complete lack of formal training as an actor. Roles that people are likely to recognize Gosling in include Dan Dunne in the movie Half Nelson and Lars Lindstrom in the movie Lars and the Real Girl.

In 2000, Ryan had a role in the movie, Remember the Titans, as a white football player on the first completely integrated high school team in history. His hairstyle at the time was a medium - short cut that left extra length on top that was razor cut to provide texture and body. His face was clean shaven, as was the custom among teens.

Today, Ryan wears his hair in a buzz cut style with only a small amount of longer hair on the top of his head. Here, the added length is negligible. This is an extremely easy hairstyle to take care of, though it could be considered high maintenance because of the need for frequent trims.

In addition, he wears a mustache and a goatee, which changes the appearance of his facial features somewhat and gives him a slightly youthful appearance compared to his actual age.

How to Pick A Hair Color

Choosing a hair color can seem to be an arduous task, especially for guys. Most men prefer to keep their natural color unless they are going for an emo look or a punk style. This holds true until the gray starts to come in, anyway. Some prefer to let gray hair make them look more distinguished while others prefer to color their hair to avoid looking older than they are. We will take at look at how to pick a hair color for those men who desire a change without taking on a wild look.

In general, a man's natural hair color looks best, even if he is trying to cover gray. However, there are some rules for choosing a hair color that will work if he is looking to make a change in his appearance. The first key is choosing a color that compliments the man's skin tone and eye color. If he has a dark skin tone, it is likely that trying to go blonde will not be a very flattering change.

On the other hand, if he is light complexioned and has blue or green eyes, bleaching his hair to blonde may be a good change.

Almost anyone can color his hair to some shade of brown. There are many different shades to choose from, so care should be exercised. It is normally best to choose a color that is within two or three shades of his natural color.

Another idea is to use highlights or lowlights to change the color. Highlights involve applying strips of lighter color to the hair in a seemingly random pattern to create a natural look. Up to five different shades can be used at the same time as long as they are within the proper range of one another. Lowlights are done in the same manner, only the hair colors used are darker than the original color.

Choosing a hair color is not an exact science. Personal preference plays a very big role in the decision. How drastically the man wants to change his appearance goes a long way toward determining color because it will dictate how many shades away from his natural color a man wants to go when coloring his hair.

Another critical issue is how natural the new color is desired to look. If a man is trying for a punk rock or emo style, the colors used will likely be bright and outrageous. If the hair color is desired to look natural, a shade close to natural should be chosen and highlights or lowlights applied within a range of five shades.

Matthew Fox Buzz Haircuts

Matthew Fox Buzz cut hairstyle

Matthew Chandler Fox is a 43 year old American actor best known for his roles as Jack Shephard on ABC television's series "Lost" and his recent appearance as Racer X in the movie version of "Speed Racer". He was also once a model. Fox grew up in Wyoming, living with his family who were caretakers of the Bitter Root Ranch.

Matthew Fox Buzz cut style

When it comes to hairstyles, Fox has probably chosen the easiest to maintain in the world. He wears his hair in a buzz cut style which leaves it short enough that he never even has to use a comb. While short hairstyles can be found to compliment any man's features, not all men can pull off the buzz cut and still look so good.

Fox Buzz haircut

Fox Buzz hairstyle

The haircut is left slightly longer than a traditional crew cut, which all but shaves the head using clippers with no guards. For a buzz cut, a quarter to a half inch guard is normally used to assure even length over all the hair while it is cut very short. While taking care of the hair cut in the style is easy for the individual, it can still be classed as a high maintenance style due to the need to have it cut again frequently.

How To Make Your Own Homemade Hair Gel

Hair gel is a very useful grooming aid that helps to hold hair in place after it is styled. Used in small amounts, it provides good hold without leaving the hair looking or feeling greasy. However, there are several varieties of hair gel sold and it is difficult to know what is in each one. Many people have decided that it could be safer and less expensive to make their own at home. Here, we will look at how to make your own homemade hair gel.

The recipe for homemade hair gel is quite easy to follow and contains nothing that could damage the hair, unlike many over the counter products. These simple instructions will produce a product that can be used exactly as one would use over the counter hair gel with no preservatives or harsh chemicals.

In a pot, heat one cup of water to just short of the boiling point. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in one cup of warm water with a half teaspoon of unflavored gelatin and a half teaspoon of aloe vera gel. One can also add a few drops of essential oils if one wishes a certain scent.

Stir the ingredients together until the desired consistency is reached. If the mixture is too thin, add gelatin in small amounts to thicken it until it is a thin gel.

As there are no preservatives in this mixture, it will only last one to two weeks if kept refrigerated. The gel can be kept in an old hair gel container from an over the counter product or a small Tupperware bowl to store the gel.

Making ones own hair gel at home is very inexpensive and allows one to know exactly what is being used on the hair. It is a perfect solution for those with a sensitive scalp who react to many chemicals normally used on hair.

Edward Cullen Hair Styles

Edward Cullen hairstyle

That look, you know the Edward Cullen hairstyle from that hot movie Twilight. Yes many people are hoping to pull off the look that has made Robert Pattinson a hot topic in Hollywood and all over. Is it more than just the hair that you need in order to pull it off, or can it look fine any other way.

Edward Cullen haircut

Here are the ways that you can accomplish the same look as Edward Cullen. You will need some styling products to help pull the look off. But overall it shouldn't be a difficult look to get on that hair of anyone's.

Get a round hair brush that you can use to style your hair; you will need to have that just out of bed look. Though keep in mind that you will not want it to look too put together either. Many different hair lengths will work, though it will be a bit easier with medium length hair.

Get a blow dryer too so that you will be able to place that hair into the style and look absolutely fabulous. Once you have those all together you can now begin the right looks for your Edward Cullen look.

Make sure that you dry your hair with a towel, and then you will want to place some fiber into your palms. Rubbing it into your hair including the roots, you will than need to scrunch your hair up and out.

With using the blow dryer and pulling the hair up and out you will begin to form the perfect look. Keep doing this until you get just the right look, you may come up with a bit of a spiked affect, but it will settle down during the day.

You can use that brush to comb the hair up and out a bit more after you've finished drying it to about 85 percent done.

How to Cut A Shag Haircut

Mario Lopez Casual shag haircut

One of the hottest hairstyles today is a sort of sassy, mussed look that contains a lot of layers and texture. This texture is put in by the way the hair is cut in layers, with successive layers getting shorter as they approach the crown of the head. This hairstyle is known as a shag haircut. Here, we will take a look at how to cut a shag.

First, a shag can be cut with any length of hair; short, medium, or long. Different lengths work with different shapes of faces and features. A stylist can recommend the best length for one's features. Cutting the shag can be a time consuming process. The hair near the crown of the head is cut relatively short. The rest of the hair is cut in layers around the crown that increase in length as we move away from the crown.

Some of the shorter hair at the top may stand up, which is part what makes this style so sassy. Bangs can be left in or cut out, depending on the desires of the individual. With longer shag haircuts, bangs can be feathered back with a pair of scissors to make them easier to keep out of the face.

Many stylists will cut the hair to almost the length that is desired in each layer. Then, they will razor cut the ends. This method adds texture and lift to the hair cut and makes it look thicker than it really is.

There are some who say that a person can cut their own hair in a shag. The instructions are pretty simple and straight forward, but one would be well advised to have a trip to the stylist scheduled in and another hairstyle in mind should something go amiss.

To cut one's hair in a shag, he must have it grown out pretty long. Then, he must turn the head upside down so that all the hair hangs toward the floor. Pulling the hair together into a ponytail, right at the top of the head, cut the hair in a straight line across with a pair of scissors. Brush the hair back down as normal and there is the shag

Peter Facinelli & Carlisle Cullen Hairstyles

Peter Facinelli hairstyle

As soon as he opened that hospital door early on in the hit movie Twilight, Peter Facinelli secured his place as one of the hottest men in the industry today. One might easily say that his character is just as popular, but the actor was able to take on the role, giving it a life of its own. His increasing fan base can even be seen by the increasing number of people sporting Peter Facinelli hairstyles.

Carlisle Cullen hairstyle

Currently fans are wearing two hairstyles that can be attributed to Peter. The first is the look of his character, Carlisle Cullen, in the Twilight movie. This consists of medium-length hair that is pulled to the back with the sides kept short. The style works with Peter especially since the hair color is blonde.

Next is the actor's natural hairstyle. He maintains a simple cut; the sides and back are trimmed short and then are unified to the higher layers. The higher layers, on the other hand, were cut in an uneven manner to make it easier to style using molding gum or wax.

Ricky Nelson Pompadour Hairstyles - Classic Male Celebrity Hairstyle

Ricky Nelson Pompadour hairstyle

Eric (Ricky) Nelson was born May 8, 1940 in Teaneck, NJ to famous parents, Ozzie and Harriett Nelson. He grew up to be a talented musician, singer, and actor. Ricky Nelson had 53 records that made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, two years after his death. He also starred some big time movies such as Rio Lobo with John Wayne and Dean Martin.

Ricky Nelson's Pompadour hair

During the 1950s and 60s, when he was considered to be a teen idol, Ricky Nelson wore his hair in a pompadour hairstyle. This hairstyle was quite popular among young men during that era. It was achieved by having the sides and back of the hair cut short while the top was left long. The front of the hair was then combed back and up to make it stand up and a lot of hair grease was applied to hold it in place.

The pompadour hairstyle had a resurgence among rock and roll band members in the 1980s. The look was a little bit different this time around due to advances in blow drying and hair styling technology. The pompadours of the 80s had a dryer appearance and were really stiffer than those worn by Ricky Nelson and his contemporaries.

How to Remove Dreadlocks Without Shaving Your Head

Dreadlocks are, in one sense, a wicked mess of tangles in one's hair that are tied in knots. For many people, attempting to get all those knots out looks like an impossible endeavor. For these folks, shaving the head looks like the only option. Truth is, however, there is another way. Here, we are going to look at how to remove dreadlocks without shaving your head.

The first thing you should know is that natural dreads are actually going to be easier to remove than perms or braided ones. You will have to invest a small fortune in hair conditioner and vegetable based oil. You will need a metal comb (plastic just is not going to survive this). And, you will need a great deal of patience.

The first thing you will need to do is wash your hair with a high quality shampoo. After rinsing, put in a bottle or two of cheap conditioner and let set for at least 20 minutes. You may need to wear a cap during this time and the longer you let the conditioner work, the better. When ready to rinse out the conditioner, try to avoid agitating the hair. Some may come untangled at this point, which will make the rest easier.

Let the hair air dry, then rinse with a mixture consisting of 4 parts water and 1 part vinegar. This will smell funky, but it will neutralize the slightly basic ph left from the shampoo and make the hair smoother.

At this point, you find that your hair is dry and brittle. If this is the case, soak your hair in oil. Jojoba is one example of a good vegetable based oil for this purpose. Wear a cap and leave the oil in overnight if possible. Even more hair may come loose after the oil treatment.

Next you will need to rinse the oil out of the hair and start picking the locks with the comb. You should start down near the end of the hair and work toward the scalp. Take your time so that you do not end up breaking the hair. If you finish detangling this lock, or even if you do not completely finish, braid the loosened hair to keep it from joining into another lock.

You should try to work from front to back and do each side evenly. You are going to need several days to get completely rid of your dreadlocks and your hair will look strange at times. However, if have the patience and enough conditioner you can remove dreadlocks without shaving your head.

Ryan Phillippe Short Curly Hairstyles

Ryan Phillippe hairstyle

Ryan Phillippe (first name Mathew) is an American actor born in New Castle, Delaware on September 10, 1974. His acting career began with him playing Billy Douglas on ABC television's soap, One Life to Live. The character was the first openly gay teenager on daytime television. Phillippe later starred in movies such as "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Cruel Intentions."

Ryan Phillippe short curly hairstyle

Ryan has naturally curly hair, so he tends to keep it cut pretty short. This allows his curls to provide body to the hair without overpowering and going wild. The style he wears right now is cut close on the sides and back with about 1 to 2 inches left on top. A small amount of pomade on the fingers and twist a few locks up to stand out from the head is the way this look is produced.

Ryan curly hairstyle

In the past, Ryan has also kept the back and sides cut short, but he slicked them down to with gel and only allowed the curls on top to show. There have also been a few times when he allowed his hair to just grow wild. Therefore, it was not long before his hair was cut and styled again.

How to Grow A Beard

Chuck Norris beard short hairstyle

One thing that men have always been able to do that most women can not is grow facial hair. This can be in the form of a mustache, a goatee, long sideburns, or even a full beard. Choosing the best style of facial hair growth for any person is an individual choice. Here, we will take a look at how to grow a beard.

The beard is characterized by hair growing on the cheeks and chin. It can be grown with or without a mustache (hair growing on the upper lip). If the mustache is present, it is considered a full beard. Growing a beard is an undertaking that will require some effort and maintenance if one wishes it to look good. Wild hair growth left unchecked simply makes a man look sloppy.

The first stage of growing a beard is simply going one week or more without shaving. At this point, one should be able to tell if growth of a full beard will be possible or if growth will be patchy. Patchy growth will limit the number of ways a beard can be styled. Full growth will be no problem.

Next, the neck and upper parts of the cheeks should be shaved clean. During this process, the beard will be shaped into the form it will be allowed to grow in. Surprisingly, this simple shaving and shaping process will complete change a man's appearance.

As time progresses, the beard will continue to grow and it will be necessary to trim it from time to time in order to maintain a well groomed appearance. This trimming can be done with scissors or with electric clippers equipped with a guard to ensure uniform length of cut. Areas of the neck and cheeks where hair growth is not wanted will have to continue to be shaved on a regular basis.

Jack White is an American musician and record producer. He has appeared on occasion as himself in different movies. Born with the name, John Anthony Gillis on July 9, 1975, he is generally credited as Jack White III. He is best known for being the guitarist and lead singer of the White Stripes, a band he founded with his ex wife, Megan White. Recently, he became a co founder of another band, The Dead Weather. He has been ranked at number 17 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the top 100 guitarists of all time.

Jack White medium hairstyle

Jack White's hairstyle is achieved through a medium length layered cut. Different layers are left at chin length while others are longer and shorter at different levels. This particular style projects the image of a rock star like few other hairstyles can do.

Jack White medium hairstyle

These medium length layers work to frame his face while giving a slightly mysterious appearance that is certain to catch the attention of every female within a mile. He projects confidence and the hubris associated with most rock stars with his hair style. Oddly, if he were to allow his hair to grow longer than it is now, it would detract from his appearance while cutting it shorter would take away from his rocker image.

Why Does Hair Turn Grey?

One sign of getting older is the appearance of lighter colored strands or grey hairs in our hair. Long associated with wisdom and aging, grey hair has come to be the accepted outcome of a life of experiences. However, there are some whose hair starts to grey as early as their teens. Others take many more years to start going grey than average. So, why does hair turn grey?

Our hair is made of cells similar to our fingernails. The reason our hair has color instead of being transparent like the fingernails is the presence of the substance melanin. This substance is responsible for the pigmentation of almost every living thing. It controls the color of our skin, hair, and more.

Scientists have determined that grey hairs are not, in fact, grey. Instead, they are transparent like the fingernails. This means that there is a pronounced lack of melanin in these hair strands. They appear as grey when viewed against the backdrop of our normal hair color.

There is no single answer as to why the hair follicles stop producing melanin in sufficient quantities to keep our hair from going grey. Age, stress, and genetics have all been linked to the onset of graying hair. Another recent discovery made in Britain indicates that failure in the hair follicles to produce sufficient quantities of the enzyme, catalase. This enzyme works to break down hydrogen peroxide which is produced as a by product of cellular metabolism.

As any hairdresser can attest, a buildup of hydrogen peroxide on the hair can and will strip the melanin out of each strand and leave them bleached and colorless. Reduced amounts of catalase allowing for more hydrogen peroxide and reduction in production of melanin occurring together could account for the vast majority of peoples hair turning grey each year.

Travis Barker Fanned Mohawk Hairstyles

Travis Barker fanned Mohawk hairstyle

Travis Barker is the current drummer for the pop punk group Blink-182. He is also the founder of punk clothing company Famous Stars and Straps and Lasalle Records. When not playing drums for his punk band, Barker also has interests in hip hop, alternative rock, pop, and country music. He has played drums for such artists as Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, and Kid Rock.

Barker is well known for performing shirtless on stage. His torso and arms are covered with a myriad of tattoos. His other trademark is his fanned Mohawk hair style.

Travis Barker fanned Mohawk

Barker Mohawk hairstyle

Unlike a regular Mohawk, which is having the sides of the head shaved while leaving a stripe of hair down the center of the head on top and in back, a fanned Mohawk allows the hair that is left to grow longer so that it can be gelled or moussed and made to stand up away from the head.

The reason for the name, fanned Mohawk, is that when viewed from the side, this hairstyle resembles an open oriental fan. Variations on the hairstyle include pulling the hair into spikes that stand out from the head and the general fan shape that is achieved by simply pulling the hair up and pressing it together from each side.

How to Cut A Flat Top Haircut

Flat Top haircut

There are many different styles available to men who prefer medium to long hair. Short haircuts and styles are more limited, depending on the length one is willing to leave the hair. Still, many people do not know how to cut a flat top haircut.

The first step in cutting a flat top is to take a pair of electric clippers and cut the hair on the sides and back of the head short. Different people use different guards to achieve different lengths in this area, but the rule of thumb is the shorter, the better.

Next, the remaining hair is usually washed and blown dry so that it stands straight up. The hair on the top is then cut to a length of about 1 inch. As the clippers or scissors move toward the very top of the head, the hair is cut to shorter lengths to maintain the flat appearance of the finished haircut. This thin strip at the top is known as the "landing strip" because it resembles a thin grass landing strip at a rural airport from above.

Some people use a special flat top comb that includes a built in bubble level to ensure that they get an even flat surface on top. Most are able to judge the plane close enough with their eyes, especially if they have cut this type of haircut before.

Flat tops are not at all uncommon among military and police officers because this style is short and efficient. The largest difference between this and a crew cut is that the hair around the top of the head is left longer. This means that a flat top will grow out quickly and will need maintenance cuts performed every few weeks to keep it from losing the ability to stand upright.

Matthew Bomer messy hairstyle

Matthew Bomer was born October 11, 1975 in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston. Matt Bomer is a stage, screen, and television actor who has had many roles over the years. His first television role was as Ian Kipling on the ABC television soap opera "All My Children". More recently, he played the role of Bryce Larkin, a recurring character in NBC's Chuck. He is now cast as master con man, Neal Caffrey, in "White Collar" airing on the USA network.

Over the years, through different roles, Bomer has allowed his hairstyle to change gradually. Though he always wears what would be considered short hair, he has styled it differently for different characters. As Ian Kipling, he wore a short, mussed hairstyle and a mustache with goatee that gave him the look of a European who has seen the world. In "Chuck", his character wore a clean cut business man's hairstyle that outlined his face.

Neal Caffrey hairstyle

In the current role of Neal Caffrey, Bomer demonstrates how a simple shave and haircut with a different method of styling the hair can transform a man's appearance so completely that people who see him every day can fail to recognize him. Once out in the world, He wears a conservatively messy layered style that allows him to look like a bit of a free spirit without looking like he does not fit in.
